There are 29 species of antelopes in the different National Parks of Uganda. Among these, we have the eland, greater Kudu, Jackson’s hartebeest, waterbuck, the semi-aquatic sitatunga antelope, gazelle and the Uganda Kob.
They can be distinguished by their features like the Jackson’s hartebeest has an unusual flat face and only found in Uganda, the greater Kudu has white side stripes and long unique spiral horns, we then have the world’s largest antelope which is the Eland that measures up to 180cm at the shoulder.
The semi-aquatic Sitatunga antelope has splayed hooves that are adapted to the papyrus swamps, this one is rarely seen. The most commonly seen is the Grant’s gazelle which can live in hundreds of individuals.
We aslo have the famous Uganda Kob which is the national emblem.
